Betty White’s Cherished Oceanfront Carmel Home Sells for Almost $3 Million Over Asking

(SFGate) - The lush, mid-century home in Carmel-by-the-Sea, Calif. that Betty White longed to spend her final days in has sold — for nearly $3 million over the initial asking price.

The four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bathroom property, which was listed in late March for $7.95 million, sold for $10.775 million.

The airy, three-story “mid-century masterpiece” has stunning views of the Point Lobos Nature Reserve and two Carmel beaches from every room in the manor. Its construction was completed in 1981 — just days before Allen Ludden, White’s husband, died from stomach cancer. The “Golden Girls” actress met Ludden on the set of the game show “Password."

“Spending time in Carmel was one of Betty’s favorite things to do,” said Nicole Truszkowski of Truszkowski Freedman & Associates in a statement to SFGATE. “She enjoyed many treasured moments with her family and close friends. The home embodies the spirit of Betty and [her husband] Allen, it was eloquently understated with the focus on nature and the natural beauty surrounding the home.”
