(Realtor.com) - Shannen Doherty's estate has claimed that her ex-husband Kurt Iswarienko owes money after refusing to list their $1.5 million Texas home, despite the terms outlined in their divorce agreement.
The Hollywood star's attorneys filed a petition about her divorce from Iswarienko, 51, which was finalized before the A-lister's July 2024 death, which was due to a yearslong battle with cancer.
Doherty finalized the divorce settlement on July 12, just one day before her death, while Iswarienko signed on July 13.
Now, in a recent filing, Doherty's attorneys and the trustee of Doherty's trust, Christopher Cortazzo, alleged that her ex-spouse, whom she married in 2011, has failed to meet certain obligations
In the petition, which was obtained by People and initially filed on Nov. 28, Cortazzo claimed that her ex has failed to fulfill "monetary obligations" that were included in the divorce settlement.
One of those provisions was that Iswarienko was to sell Doherty's $1.5 million Texas abode and "equally divide the net proceeds with [her] estate."
According to the filing, he "has refused to list" the Dripping Springs, TX, property "for sale."
The home is reportedly where Iswarienko is residing.
Her ex has reportedly "refused to return [Doherty's] items of personal property," which was also included in the divorce settlement.
The filing has also claimed that he has failed to "produce his inventory" of snaps of Doherty.
The settlement specified that Iswarienko would hand over his photographs no later than Sept. 1, 2024, making him "14 months delinquent."
Meanwhile, Doherty's Malibu mansion, which underwent a large price decrease in September, remains on the market for $8.7 million.
She purchased the picture-perfect abode in 2004 for $2.56 million. The home was later described as her personal "sanctuary," where she was able to escape the hustle and bustle of Hollywood, particularly during her lengthy cancer battle.
Just over one year after the "Charmed" star's tragic passing, the home was put on the market by Cortazzo.
When the listing first hit the market, Cortazzo—who met Doherty in the 1990s after she went to view one of his listings—opened up to the Wall Street Journal about their friendship and how the actress first fell in love with the property, noting that she was most drawn to the privacy offered at the elegant estate.
"When you’re a notable figure, your home becomes your sanctuary," he explained—adding that Doherty would regularly host her "very close, intimate circle of friends" at the house, where she threw Italian Night every week, as well as a Dancing Night.
Cortazzo revealed that, because the actress had no children, the profits from the sale of her home, which offers five bedrooms and 5,400 square feet of living space, will go to her mother, Rosa.
Though Doherty purchased the property in 2004, she carried out an extensive renovation in 2018, after the property was damaged in the Woolsey fire that same year, with Cortazzo revealing that the home is filled with treasures that the actress collected while traveling the world.
The home is located outside of the Malibu area that was impacted by the recent California wildfires, he added—although he conceded that buyers are being more cautious about the kinds of properties they are purchasing in the area, explaining that many are taking steps to ensure that homes are safeguarded from potential fire damage.
Doherty's property boasts a largely stucco exterior, save for the enormous glass walls that feature prominently at the back of the home, providing stunning views of the surrounding area—particularly from the primary suite, which features a retractable glass wall.
Inside the dwelling, the main living space boasts beamed ceilings, an expansive kitchen with custom cabinetry, and a largely neutral aesthetic that is accented with some unique decor items, including sliding barn doors that separate the dining room from the den.
Outside, the home features a glittering lap pool that overlooks the ocean, while hedges that border the 1-acre property help to ensure privacy from prying eyes, something that Doherty is said to have prized.
The yard also boasts an edible garden as well as a canopy of trees to provide natural shade on hot days.
The property includes a detached guesthouse, which can be used as a studio space, an additional bedroom, or even a fitness center.
Doherty purchased the home three years after she ended her three-year run as Prue Halliwell on "Charmed" and 10 years after she quit her hit role in "Beverly Hills, 90210."
The actress' career had begun long before she landed the part of Brenda Walsh. As a child, Doherty appeared in several TV spots before securing the role of Jenny Wilder on "Little House on the Prairie."
After Doherty was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in 2015, she began publicly documenting her health journey, candidly revealing the treatments she was undergoing, while continuing to share her positive outlook on life.
In 2017, the actress revealed that her cancer was in remission—however, just two years later, it returned, with Doherty announcing that the disease had advanced to Stage 4.
Doherty's death was confirmed by her longtime publicist, Leslie Sloane, in a statement made to People on July 14: "It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease."
