Morgan Stanley wealth management team breaks away to form new firm

(Houston Chronicle) -- Wealth adviser Jason Fertitta has launched Houston-based Americana Partners with a team of former Morgan Stanley professionals that managed $6 billion in client assets.

Fertitta serves as president of the new independent wealth management firm, which has partnered with adviser platform Dynasty Financial Partners, the companies announced.

"We are thrilled to launch Americana Partners with offices in Houston, Austin and Dallas," Fertitta said in an announcement. "With deep roots in the state, we are proud to be setting up our independent wealth management firm in Texas."

Fertitta had been a managing director and private wealth adviser at Morgan Stanley since 2008, and before that worked in the high-net-worth division of Lehman Brothers.

"We will now be able to expand our client offering in a number of ways, including providing our clients access to comprehensive family office services, unique investment opportunities and the ability to source our clients' capital markets and credit needs across multiple firms," Fertitta said.

Americana Partners helps entrepreneurs, investors, multi-generational families and family offices manage their wealth.

The deal represents the largest single team to join the Dynasty Financial Partners network. Through its affiliation, Americana plans to leverage Dynasty's wealth management services, people, technology and capital support.

Americana Partners has selected Schwab to provide custody services for its clients' assets and Addepar for consolidated asset and performance reporting.
