(SheKnows) - Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have stayed relatively below the radar with the pending divorce. However, a new report seems to blow the lid off their low-key PR strategy now that a few details about their financial negotiations have been revealed.
The 55-year-old actor is reportedly worth $100 million, and he seems happy to split that fortune with Furness under one condition, according to a National Enquirer source, via RadarOnline. It seems that Jackman wants his estranged wife to sign an “ironclad” NDA because there are certain aspects of their relationship together that he wants to keep under wraps.
“This move is less about the financial aspect and more about retaining control,” the insider noted. “Hugh’s concern has never been money, but rather control. He’s a man with lots of secrets and doesn’t want any of them exposed.” Secrets? What kind of secrets? There are already whispers, via Us Weekly, that the Wolverine star’s first step after his split will be to write a memoir with “big bombshells” about his personal life. It seems somewhat unfair that Jackman would be allowed to talk about his marriage, but Furness would have to keep her mouth shut.
However, the family insider doesn’t seem to think that it’s a bad idea because Furness would walk away from the situation very wealthy. “Let’s just say Deb will not need to worry about getting a job,” the source said to the National Enquirer. “She’ll have enough money for the rest of her life — if she signs an airtight nondisclosure agreement. They do not have a prenup and he is poised to be exceedingly generous with his $100 million fortune, provided she accedes to his stipulations.”
If Furness is OK with Jackman’s request, then she should sign away and enjoy the money she helped him earn throughout his career. But if those conditions make her uncomfortable, then she will hopefully work out an agreement that gives her peace of mind — divorce is never easy!
