(Elmundo America) - The actor from The Godfather or Apocalypse Now did not have children and never stood out for leading an ostentatious life. Despite one of his early salaries being $30,000, the box office success of his films and his work as a producer made him a wealthy man.
The death last Sunday of Robert Duvall from natural causes at the age of 95 is a hard blow for Hollywood lovers. The actor, who turned acting into an art and never sought fame, appeared in 142 films, allowing him to live comfortably throughout his life.
International media such as The Economic Times or the website Celebrity Net Worth estimate his fortune between 50 and 70 million dollars. Unlike his close friends like Gene Hackman or Dustin Hoffman (88), he did not have high salaries, but he knew how to invest wisely.
For example, he was paid $30,000 for The Chase (1966), $36,000 for The Godfather (1972), and $500,000 and one million dollars for the following two sequels, respectively. His films have generated over $3.15 billion at the global box office.
Among his most important assets is the 145-hectare ranch in Middleburg (Virginia) where Duvall lived with his fourth wife, the Argentine Luciana Pedraza (54), and the production company Bucher's Run Film, founded in 1992. It is known that he made several successful real estate transactions, but the total amount is unknown.
Thanks to the proliferation of streaming platforms owning catalogs of the best films from the 70s and 80s, Robert Duvall continued to receive significant royalties for classics like The Godfather and Apocalypse Now.
Additionally, the actor also made money from profit participation in some projects whether or not he produced them, and from residual payments from TV broadcasts. It is also worth noting his salary increase after winning the Oscar for Best Actor for Tender Mercies (1983).
The American actor never stood out for leading an ostentatious life and he also had no children. To date, his will has not been made public, so under normal circumstances, it is expected that all or a large part of his fortune will be inherited by Luciana Pedraza.
There is speculation that he may have also allocated a percentage of his legacy to the Robert Duvall Children's Fund, which they both created with the mission to collaborate for the well-being of families with children in difficult situations in northern Argentina and to the non-profit organization Pro Mujer, which helps the poorest women in Latin America.
