To qualify for an SMA Manager and Strategist of the Year Award, a manager’s team is required to have at least three years of experience running a strategy with $200 million or more in assets.

Additionally, a manager’s product must be reported through Envestnet | PMC’s Premium Research solutions, which are leading sources of investment-manager due diligence and research for advisors.

Award winners and finalists were selected based on Envestnet | PMC’s proprietary, systematic, and multi-factor methodology for evaluating managers.

A variety of qualitative and quantitative criteria, such as firm profile, investment process and style, performance, tax efficiency, and customer service, are taken into consideration under this framework.

“The research team at Envestnet | PMC relies on a diverse range of criteria to assess SMA managers, and reading about the managers and strategies that meet these standards is very helpful for advisors,” said Janet Levaux, Investment Advisory Group Editor-in-Chief at ALM, which publishes Investment Advisor.

“We are committed to helping our readers learn how to effectively evaluate investment strategies and products that can potentially improve outcomes for their clients.”

Mr. Clift and Jamie Green, an ALM representative, presented the SMA Manager and Strategist of the Year Award winners with their awards at the Summit.

The presentation followed the announcement of the winners of the first annual Essential Advisor Awards, and a panel discussion on how the Essential Advisor Award recipients are evolving their practices to enhance the value of their client relationships.
