This $4.2 Billion Mega-Resort Is A Playground For Adults In The Bahamas

It’s getting colder and colder outside.

It gets dark at 5 p.m.

The holidays have you completely stressed out.

Face it, you need a vacation. And you need it now.

And this $4.2 billion playground for adults is just the ticket. Meet Baha Mar, and its newest addition: the SLS Baha Mar.

Holiday meltdown averted.

With the Bahamas being one of the easiest places to get to in the Caribbean, you deserve to check this place out. And not just because the SLS Baha Mar is the hot new hotel on the island, but because with a $4.2 billion price tag, Baha Mar is the hottest new development in the Caribbean.

With 299 rooms, the SLS Baha Mar now joins the 1,800 room Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, as two of the three hotels that will call Baha Mar home. They’ll be joined by Rosewood Baha Mar and their 238 residential-style rooms in 2018.

Think of Baha Mar as the ultimate playground for adults. There is a 100,000 square foot casino (it’s also the largest in the Caribbean) overlooking the ocean. There are more than 20 different restaurants and bars across the property, including the hottest reservation in Nassau at Katsuya by Starck Baha Mar.

There’s an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, Royal Blue, with a club renting program that includes access to the best clubs from Callaway, Taylor Made, Titleist, PXG, and Itobori (whose clubs easily run a few thousand dollars apiece).

There are free to use stand-up paddleboards, single and double kayaks, single and double clear-bottom kayaks, Hobie Cat sailboats, snorkels, fins, and masks to use along the 3,000 feet of pristine beachfront that separates the mega-resort from the island’s crystal blue waters. (This is also widely considered one of the best beaches in the Bahamas.) Plus, there’s a sanctuary on-site for guests only where you can snorkel and swim with nurse sharks, turtles, and sting rays, when you’re feeling extra adventurous. And a flagship ESPA spa for when you’re done adventuring, and ready to just unwind and relax.

And now that the SLS Baha Mar is officially open, the cool factor across the mega-resort has officially gone up. Because SLS adds their signature cool style, which means you can expect nothing short of world-class DJs popping in to host over-the-top pool parties, appearances by celebrity chefs, whimsical décor to transport you into a state of bliss, posh pool areas complete with butler service, and the crowd of hip jetsetters to match.

And the SLS team is just getting started – there’s still plenty more to come, including a restaurant from a James Beard Award winner – Fi’lia by Chef Michael Schwartz – in December, a swanky VIP pool with invite-only pool parties – Privilege Pool – opening before the end of the year, and the only rooftop lounge on the island – Skybar – opening in early 2018.

The SLS Baha Mar is the first SLS property to open in the Caribbean, and there are currently 11 more SLS properties in the works to open around the world. I think the right phrase here is: SLS world takeover.
