Victoria and David Beckham divorce claims: New twist in split riddle

The rumor-mill went into overdrive last Friday amid speculation that Victoria and David Beckham were set to divorce.

The pair who have been married for 19-years and share four children found themselves at the centre of a social media storm as the false gossip spread like wildfire.

It even saw betting company Paddy Power suspending bets on the twosome getting divorced.

A spokesman for fashion mogul and former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham. 44, shut down the claims.

In a statement to Daily Star Online, the spokesman said: "If I spent all my time responding to ridiculous Beckham gossip and rumours there wouldn't be enough hours in the day. What nonsense."

Following the frenzy, both David, 43, and Victoria took to their respective social media accounts, to break their silence without addressing the false claims.

David shared a black and white professional snap of himself, and Victoria sharing a family pic with the children.

And now the PR worker who spread the false rumour has been suspended and is under investigation.

The girl messaged the incorrect information to family members from her work email account on Friday.

However, the email was shared online after it was screen-grabbed, after the salacious gossip was already circulating.

The PR company, The Communications Store, has released a statement declaring that the rumour did not originate from them or the employee.

A spokeswoman said to the Daily Star Online: “In this case, a junior employee was commenting to her family members on gossip that was already circulating on Twitter.

"Although that should never have happened, she did not originate anything. The HR team at TCS are dealing with this member of staff in the correct manner.”

A rep for The Beckhams said following Friday's mounting speculation: "There is no statement due, no divorce, and a lot of Chinese whispers and fake social media news.

"This is all very bizarre and an embarrassing waste of time."
